It all started in 2014. We knew we had to start a culture change within the municipality, but at the same time we needed to be guided. Our progress has not been easy. Some projects have been successful, others have been less successful. There were skeptics and people outright opposed to this idea. With the perseverance of the implementation team at the municipality, the use of proven tools, structured training, and the coaching that the DirecSys team gave us, we can say that we have made big steps. Today, after 6 years, we can see the daily impact of this initiative, employees who think and act differently with a common goal of improving the way we do things.

Bonte Foods Limited began operation in 1977 under the name Greco Foods Limited. Its main purpose was supplying the growing number of Greco Donair Restaurants with donair and pizza products. As donair products became more popular, Greco Donair began to produce & sell them to accounts across Atlantic Canada. Bonte Foods Limited now sells its products across Canada. The product list has grown to include donair meat products, pepperoni, salami, pizza toppings, gyros, pita bread, donair and pizza sauce, various mustards, with all meats made right here in our federally inspected Dieppe, New Brunswick plant. Bonte products of some form can be found in many retail grocery chains in Canada. Having recently undergone our fourth expansion, Bonté Foods employs over 100 people. Bonté Foods Limited is presently working on new and exciting products to meet the needs of a rapidly changing market place. THE BUSINESS AS WE KNOW IT TODAY WAS FOUNDED IN 1985. The founder, Christian Larocque, had just closed his previous excavation business due to the competition, which at the time was too fierce. Thus, in 1985, Mr Larocque decided to purchase his first transport truck. His new business began with small contracts, here and there, and over time he was able to purchase more trucks. By the mid-90s, he owned 6 trucks. Christian Larocque then hired a dispatcher, Guy Duguay. Mr Duguay had previously worked as a driver for Mr Larocque and decided to put his expertise at the disposal of the company so that he could help it to gain some momentum. During the 90s, the business mainly focused on transporting goods all across North America, East to West and North to South. From the start, the company's priority has always been to offer an exemplary service and to adapt to the needs of its clients. En 1995, the business was incorporated under the name of Christian Larocque Services. In 1998, a new building was constructed and became the headquarters for the company as we know it to this day. In 2005, Christian Larocque decided to return afresh to the excavation field. Thanks to his experience in this area, he was able to grow this sector of the business, which already represents 50% of the company's revenue. The excavation side of the business is now managed by his son, Bernard André. In 2009-2010, Christian Larocque obtained some substantial contracts in the field of excavation, which allowed him to strengthen his business and to acquire experience. In 2010, his other son, Rémi, who worked as a truck driver for his father's company, left his seat behind the wheel to take an administrative position within the company and to assist with dispatch; a position he holds to this day. In 2011, Christian Larocque hired a controller, Westley Wilson, to ensure the best possible financial management. As of this day, the company now employs 40 permanent staff and50 staff during the busiest periods. The company's fleet features approximately 25 transport trucks and 60 trailers, as well as several machines and pieces of equipment for excavation. It also has its own garage which is well equipped for the repair and maintenance of heavy machinery. In 2014, Christian Larocque passed the torch to his two sons, Bernard André and Rémi, but remains active within the company as president. Guy Duguay and Westley Wilson also became business partners.

Supreme Homes was established in 1983. The family owned business has 150 dedicated employees in Tracadie New Brunswick and a dozen independent retailers across the Atlantic provinces and Quebec. Over the years, more than 2000 families have trusted Supreme Homes to build their dream home.

McGraw Seafood was founded in 1973 by Edmond McGraw. In 1987, a group of fishermen purchased the plant. Finally, in 2008, the Elsipogtog First Nation took over the plant, which employs approximately 200 people each year. McGraw Seafood mainly processes snow crab sections and herring roe for the Japanese and American markets. Historically operating approximately 16-20 weeks out of a year, the short seasons have generated significant benefits for the community of Elsipogtog. Our company is a prime example of how collaboration between different cultures can yield incredible benefits for everyone. The Aboriginally-owned company directly creates 200 positions, held primarily by Acadians, in addition to another 150 Aboriginal fishermen who sell product directly to the plant. Benefits generated by the company are often used to aid in the well-being of the Elsipogtog First Nation. Some of our biggest contributions have been a specially-designed toddler school bus, a plow, large maintenance vehicles and the School Lunch Program. Throughout the winter of 2014-15, McGraw Seafood underwent a $2.5 million expansion to adapt better to the changing Japanese and American markets. The following season, the company processed a record amount of snow crab and herring in its history.
